Hey all! I'm sorry it has been a while. Matthew and I are now at Vandenberg Air Force Base. He is scheduled to start training in January! We are finally settled in our house and at the moment I am getting ready to host Thanksgiving for Matthew's parents and sister here in CA! I just wanted to give some quick thoughts on getting to a new base.
Get involved! Start volunteering, go to welcome meetings ( usually given by the Airman and Family Readiness Center), or get involved in a exercise class though the gym! You will be amazed how fast you meet people.
When you have to move all the time it is sometimes difficult for your new house to feel like home. As you look around your house think about what makes it feel like home to you. When you move make those the things you do first in your new place. A friend of mine starts a herb garden first thing every time she moves. This makes it start feeling like home right away, and brings some consistency with her.
I also wanted to let you know about another great resource. milspouse.com is a great place to find more tips and ideas for life in the military.
Have a happy Thanksgiving!
